Wednesday Vignette – blur

Oh my – I forgot it’s Wednesday! I think the heat and the topsy turvy national events of the past week have turned my brain to mush… For lack of a better photo, here is something that’s more interesting compositionally than anything else; a shot of a Pinellia flower, that I discovered flowering in an out of the way pot. For some reason, I like how the light plays in the background. If nothing else, this overall blur can perhaps illustrate the smeared lines between fact and fiction so devastatingly prevalent these days. Stay sharp, people! 😉

About annamadeit

I was born and raised in Sweden, By now, I have lived almost as long in the United States. The path I’ve taken has been long and varied, and has given me a philosophical approach to life. I may joke that I’m a sybarite, but the truth is, I find joy and luxury in life’s simple things as well. My outlook on life has roots in a culture rich in history and tradition, and I care a great deal about environmental stewardship. Aesthetically, while drawn to the visually clean, functional practicality and sustainable solutions that are the hallmarks of modern Scandinavia, I also have a deep appreciation for the raw, the weathered, and the worn - materials that tell a story. To me, contrast, counterpoint, and diversity are what makes life interesting and engaging. Color has always informed everything I do. I’m a functional tetrachromat, and a hopeless plantoholic. I was originally trained as an architect working mostly on interiors, but soon ventured outside - into garden design. It’s that contrast thing again… An interior adrift from its exterior, is like a yin without a yang. My firm conviction that everything is connected gets me in trouble time and time again. The world is a big place, and full of marvelous distractions, and offers plentiful opportunities for inquiry and exploration. I started writing to quell my constant queries, explore my discoveries, and nurture my curiosity. The Creative Flux was started in 2010, and became a catch-all for all kinds of intersecting interests. The start of Flutter & Hum at the end of 2013 marks my descent into plant nerd revelry. I occasionally contribute to other blogs, but those two are my main ones. For sure, topics are all over the map, but then again - so am I! Welcome to my blogs!

I tried and failed to come up a photo to reflect my view of the past week, Anna. Dog vomit slime mold would have been appropriate but all of that dried up in the last heatwave. Our profile in the larger world is downright embarrassing and I fear that the negative image now attached to the US will outlive #45’s hopefully one-term presidency.

    • annamadeit says:

Everything about #45 is such a FARCE! I just spent over an hour catching up on interviews with all kinds of political heavyweights after this latest (and greatest) shit storm. I know the US looks absolutely terrible in the eyes of the rest of the world, but somehow I sense (or more so hope) that this is a turning point of sorts. If the GOP don’t have the balls to stand up, and unite in restraining this twittering imbecile, I fear we are doomed. I have to cling to some kind of hope, or I’ll go mad…. sigh!

    • annamadeit says:

Thanks Derrick! I have to ask – you folks over there must think we are mad for letting one political disaster after another happen… (and I would agree). I thought we had checks and balances to prevent this kind of thing, but if no one with the power to do so have enough spine to enforce them… well, then what? I’m fascinated with the events of the past couple of days, but in a sick, obsessed kind of way. I can’t seem to stop watching/listening to the news. It’s just crazy…

      • Anna. I feel for you. It is not you who are crazy – it is a self-seeking madness that has taken over the country – and much of the world. Watching the total gladiatorial farce that was the campaign trail suggested that whatever the outcome it was not going to be good news. Putin could barely contain his smirks as Trump floundered – and yet the President still blusters – a slip of the tongue? How many spinners took a couple of days to come up with that one? And not an inkling of remorse.

  2. You managed, once again, to be relevant. Yes indeed. A blur, all the better to keep us confused! MY WV is just another pretty picture, my coping mechanism.

Oh gosh, I was looking at The Creative Flux because I thought you were out of space here. Yes, it’s been a blurry time!

Haha – even I confuse people… sorry about that! I posted my GBBD post on TCF the other day, ( I still have enough space there to being able to post multiple photos) but I’ll try to keep my WWs here. Went back and deleted some irrelevant photos on Flutter & Hum to free up some space, and so far, that seems to have worked. For the time being, anyway… 🙂

That is more artistic than horticultural.
