A much belated Wednesday Vignette

I did it again! Forgot what day it is, that is. I guess there is still an hour and thirty five minutes left of Wednesday, so I’m squeaking in under midnight’s deadline…

My husband always complains that he can’t trust me to reliably use a calendar. That may be partially true, but I also think it’s because I’m such a creature of habit. When things change, I get all discombobulated, until new routines take form, and I can enjoy the luxury of being on autopilot again.

Anyway, sorry for the confusion. There have been some changes lately, and I’m still working on finding a new rhythm. I think this shot of a Passiflora tendril can serve to adequately illustrate the lost state of my mind. Round and round we go…

About annamadeit

I was born and raised in Sweden, By now, I have lived almost as long in the United States. The path I’ve taken has been long and varied, and has given me a philosophical approach to life. I may joke that I’m a sybarite, but the truth is, I find joy and luxury in life’s simple things as well. My outlook on life has roots in a culture rich in history and tradition, and I care a great deal about environmental stewardship. Aesthetically, while drawn to the visually clean, functional practicality and sustainable solutions that are the hallmarks of modern Scandinavia, I also have a deep appreciation for the raw, the weathered, and the worn - materials that tell a story. To me, contrast, counterpoint, and diversity are what makes life interesting and engaging. Color has always informed everything I do. I’m a functional tetrachromat, and a hopeless plantoholic. I was originally trained as an architect working mostly on interiors, but soon ventured outside - into garden design. It’s that contrast thing again… An interior adrift from its exterior, is like a yin without a yang. My firm conviction that everything is connected gets me in trouble time and time again. The world is a big place, and full of marvelous distractions, and offers plentiful opportunities for inquiry and exploration. I started writing to quell my constant queries, explore my discoveries, and nurture my curiosity. The Creative Flux was started in 2010, and became a catch-all for all kinds of intersecting interests. The start of Flutter & Hum at the end of 2013 marks my descent into plant nerd revelry. I occasionally contribute to other blogs, but those two are my main ones. For sure, topics are all over the map, but then again - so am I! Welcome to my blogs!

Good things are worth waiting for. Hope the changes work out well once your tendril finds something to grasp.

The tendril will find anchor and so will you, but I hear you, I’m much the same. Lovely photo!

I know the feeling. Occasionally age and health cause me to have a lost year or a lost season, and this autumn has been like that.

Well, in light of that, I should probably be grateful to have just lost a day… 😀 Seriously, though – I do it too. I completely forgot that I had a birthday this year, and kept thinking I was a year younger than I actually am. It really doesn’t take much to throw me off course, these days… But, who cares – it’s just time. It will pass whether we think about it, or not.

Well, you may lose track of a day here and there, Anna, but your minds-eye is always spot-on when it comes to capturing great photographic images. I spent all day yesterday in a hospital as shepherd for a friend – it was stressful and largely a blur but, as the outcome was generally positive, well worth the lost hours.

It looks like it was made by Alexander Calder.

  8. I imagine the twining tendrils lamenting: there’s nothing we can rely on!

You are not the only one. What the heck happened to 2018?

Another good question is what happened to my head? I just now realized I posted today’s Vignette over on The Creative Flux. What is this – a full moon or something…? Jeez…
