I don’t normally get around to this decorating thing until way later in the game, but this year is different. I wanted it to be done early, because a few days from now, kid number 1 who left us to move to 🇸🇪 is coming back for #christmas . We’re all excited - he’s been missed!! 😃 #christmastree #christmasdecor #decoratingforchristmas #lotsoflights #caturday #lotsofgnomes #christmasgoat #kidcominghome#teasel #seedheads make are fun to include in #holidaywreaths . Those #curlicues are so old world - they remind me of turn-of-the-century ice skates. How’s this for an adorable #cookiejar ? We made her acquaintance yesterday, at our friends’ @mariatdinocencio house. Thanks again for wonderful traditions with wonderful friends! 🥰🍁🦃😊❤️🍁Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. We’re off to celebrate with good friends, which makes it very easy on us, with minimal cooking. Cooked up a #tablearrangement instead. Many thanks to kind neighbors for providing the berries. #fallarrangement #thanksgivingIsn’t this some of the most #fantasticfoliage you’ve ever seen? I absolutely love it! Purchased from @cistusnursery earlier this year, it only has a handful of leaves. I’m severely tempted to harvest a few for a Thanksgiving arrangement. They arr so cool - they would totally steal the show. I think this one is called #aspidistratonkanensisspotty . Aptly named, don’t you agree? Some backyard foliage drama this afternoon. I know it was stupid to plant anything with the word ’Giant’ in its name in such a small yard, but I really, really like those black leaves. And with a backdrop of #jasminumfionasunrise it looks even better. Dr Hill wasn’t the only Fiona to brighten my life this week! #pittosporumebonygiant #mybackyard #mygarden #myurbanjungle

Wednesday Vignette – waiting for the drop to fall
Fall really is here – in the case of western Oregon, it came unusually early this year. It has rained for weeks now, and for the past few weeks, leaves all around have been ablaze. Oddly enough, this rather beautiful … Continue reading

Wednesday Vignette – yellow
Outside, on my window, I hear rain drops. I wonder if that means we’re done for this year… weather-wise, I mean. We’ve had a phenomenal October so far, and are almost at the end of it. Crisp, deep blue skies … Continue reading
Random springiness on the First Day of Spring
So, it’s the First Day of Spring, they say. To me, it seems half way over – I haven’t written a single post about the garden marvels I’ve come across this year. Oh well, better late than never. Here are a few – in no particular order… … Continue reading

The Celebratory Colors of Fall
A quick walk around the nursery yard with the camera today yielded some pretty photos, which I thought could serve as a suitable celebration of some fabulous news. Most of you know that I am part of a team tasked with revamping a … Continue reading

Wednesday Vignette – prodigious pumpkins
I’ve been a bit fractured, and haven’t even started getting ready for Halloween yet. In case you didn’t know, that’s my favorite holiday of them all. I used to pour my all into making my costume, then – after I … Continue reading
