I don’t normally get around to this decorating thing until way later in the game, but this year is different. I wanted it to be done early, because a few days from now, kid number 1 who left us to move to 🇸🇪 is coming back for #christmas . We’re all excited - he’s been missed!! 😃 #christmastree #christmasdecor #decoratingforchristmas #lotsoflights #caturday #lotsofgnomes #christmasgoat #kidcominghome#teasel #seedheads make are fun to include in #holidaywreaths . Those #curlicues are so old world - they remind me of turn-of-the-century ice skates. How’s this for an adorable #cookiejar ? We made her acquaintance yesterday, at our friends’ @mariatdinocencio house. Thanks again for wonderful traditions with wonderful friends! 🥰🍁🦃😊❤️🍁Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. We’re off to celebrate with good friends, which makes it very easy on us, with minimal cooking. Cooked up a #tablearrangement instead. Many thanks to kind neighbors for providing the berries. #fallarrangement #thanksgivingIsn’t this some of the most #fantasticfoliage you’ve ever seen? I absolutely love it! Purchased from @cistusnursery earlier this year, it only has a handful of leaves. I’m severely tempted to harvest a few for a Thanksgiving arrangement. They arr so cool - they would totally steal the show. I think this one is called #aspidistratonkanensisspotty . Aptly named, don’t you agree? Some backyard foliage drama this afternoon. I know it was stupid to plant anything with the word ’Giant’ in its name in such a small yard, but I really, really like those black leaves. And with a backdrop of #jasminumfionasunrise it looks even better. Dr Hill wasn’t the only Fiona to brighten my life this week! #pittosporumebonygiant #mybackyard #mygarden #myurbanjungle

Foliage Follow-Up Day – January 2018
The biggest news from my garden this month is that I – FINALLY – took the time to thin out my black bamboo. Wow – should’ve done that years ago… It looks so much better now… So, that is the … Continue reading

How to build a fern table
Let me just preface this post by saying that I had a great day! I had nearly an entire, uninterrupted day to do something I have wanted to do for months – build some fern tables! Ever since I first … Continue reading
Wednesday Vignette – beloved Oneonta
Being a little sentimental this week. Or, perhaps one could say that I’m still in mourning. The stunningly beautiful and unique Oneonta Gorge, slightly east of the tourist icon that is Multnomah Falls is said to have been severely damaged. … Continue reading

Greenhouse glimpse
Sometimes, the light is just irresistible. And sometimes your photos don’t show just how irresistible that light was. Oh well, I can still enjoy the forms and the colors of these wonderful plants:
The juglone challenge
Sometimes, a project takes on an element of gambling. Recently, a couple asked me to help them spruce up their parking strip. It had nice, generous dimensions (12′ x 50′), but also came with a large Black Walnut tree. Being that they … Continue reading
